When it comes to both individual and business taxes, being proactive can result in substantial savings. Strategically structuring both recurring and milestone income streams can bolster cash flow and mitigate issues, such as tax bracket jump, while ensuring full-advantage of current regulations is taken. Our insights into critical tax issues can help you prepare and plan for optimal results.

Did you know that there are over 800 U.S. tax forms and schedules due across a myriad of deadlines? This does not even factor in state filing obligations. With new reporting requirements arising each year, determining which forms and deadlines are applicable to you can be a complicated process. Our experts remain abreast of and adhere to the latest standards and regulations in order to ensure our clients are in compliance and provided with the highest level of quality.

The tax world is ever changing. The past few years have been witness to the most comprehensive tax overhauls in decades. With a constant flow of new and revised regulations, having proficient, knowledgeable professionals to help navigate them is a must.

When you are considering a change, whether it be as simple as taking a retirement distribution or purchasing a new piece of equipment for your business, or a major life-altering shift, let us help you determine the tax impact and maximize your savings by taking advantage of the opportunities available under current law. We infuse innovation with our strong technical foundation to mitigate tax risk and create measurable results for you. We are your go-to tax team to ensure compliance and amplify the outcome.

How Can We Help You?

Developing relationships with our clients and understanding their unique situations are imperative to ensuring that we provide the level of service for which Altman, Rogers & Co. is known. Our first step in this process is meeting with the client. Whether the preference is in-person meetings, completely virtual interactions, or a mixture of face-to-face and electronic, we have the technology and flexibility to meet the client’s needs.

Once we know the basics, we will delve into specifics by reviewing tax documents and prior year return(s). We discuss any major changes that may have occurred over the past year, as it is important that we are aware of and understand any anomalies or unusual circumstances that will need to be incorporated into the return and/ or tax plan. Other topics about which we like to confer are planning considerations for the upcoming year and the client’s long-term goals.

As the detailed number-crunching commences, we keep communication flowing with the client. We’ll reach out with additional data requests and any inquiries that may come up and encourage the client to do the same.

Once everything is complete, we review the results with the client and clear up any questions they may have. Throughout the year, we like to stay in contact with the client to remain updated on any changes, ensure that estimated payments and tax projections are still on target, and incorporate legal tax savings strategies into their tax plan.

Preliminary documents/ items* we will request and want to discuss are:

  • Copy of prior year tax return(s)
  • Any IRS notices received within the past year
  • Current year tax documents (Forms W-2, 1099, K-1, etc.)
  • Business financial data and supporting documents (if applicable)
  • Significant changes that occurred during the tax year
  • Anticipated changes for the upcoming tax year
  • Foreign bank accounts, investments, or other foreign assets
  • Virtual currency transactions
  • Economic impact (stimulus) payment(s) received
  • Advance child tax credit payments received

Additional documents and inquiries will be required for completion of the tax return(s) based upon what is provided in the initial list.

Maintaining relationships with our clients is a priority for our tax team. Our clients become like family to us, and we do all we can to take care of them.

Once we have established an understanding of each client’s unique situation, it is essential that we remain abreast of updates and changes to their personal and business positions. Through ongoing conversations and meetings with our clients, we update tax projections, adjust estimated payments as needed, and provide guidance on tax savings strategies that should be considered. This occurs not only during tax season but throughout the year. We work for our clients, not the IRS, and it is important to us that due diligence is performed to provide the clients with the best possible tax outcome.

Long-term client relationships are our goal. Several clients have been working with our preparers for multiple decades. They know they can count on us to provide consistency, stability, dependability, and above all, top-quality service. We take great pride in this and never stop striving to achieve it.
